Just going to put it out there......

 I. LOVE. BOOKS!!!

Old ones, well loved ones, mistreated ones, new ones, secondhand ones and sometimes even digital ones.

What I don't like is having a "book" that is 23 pages...... That's not a book, that's an essay.

- Do I read them as part of the ARC's? yes.

- Do I like the writing? A lot of times, yes.

- Am I a fan? OH HLL NO!!

My big issue is that they're called a book. In "ye olde bookstore", you could see the leaflet it is and decide if it's worth the price of admission. As an e-book, I often didn't have a clue, until I was 20 minutes in, and hit the end of the story. Now, the first thing I look at is the page-count, second price, and mostly.... I pass. You would hope the charged price will give you a clue but I've seen 30 page "books" go by for 4 Dollars, 20 pages for 3...... That's just not right. I found a series, that sounded great when I read the description but when I looked further, the whole series was 142 pages, spread over 6 books and would cost almost 18Dollars, if bought seperately...... and that's not even an exception.  Don't get me wrong, if you do the job, you should get paid.....but even bonded translaters don't make that kind of money:-)

My other issue with them is the lack of substance.... not in pages, but in ability by even some of the best writers, to tell the story in a way that doesn't feel rushed, or plain has holes it it, big enought to push a containership thru. There just isn't enough space to put a story together introduce the characters in a way that makes them believable or maybe even give details instead of flying from scene to scene to get to the end....

Short stories are handy if you have no attention span, are short on time, or when you have so much time between being able to read, that you never get past the first chapter, because you have to keep re-reading it to catch up with the goings on, but if I want to sit and read, I need at least 300 pages :-)

I read e-books, but it's not the same, hanging on to your phone, instead of tunneling into the couch, under a blanket with an actual paper book....
